California Adopts NSF-140 Carpet Standard
Dalton, GA, March 22, 2010--California has officially specified ANSI/NSF 140 Platinum-level certified carpet as its only environmental criteria for state purchasing, according to the Carpet and Rug Institute.
The decision, effective Dec. 31, 2009, replaces the state's previous California Gold standard for all state agency purchasing.
Sustainable Carpet Assessment Standard NSF-140 is intended for commercial, hospitality, and similar carpets.
Designers, facility managers, and government purchasers who want to ensure their purchases have the best sustainability performance should require NSF-140. The standard is third-party verified by auditors Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), UL Environment, and NSF, International.
