Building Owners & Managers Association Elects New

Washington, DC, July 18--The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, commercial real estate's leading advocacy group, elected new officers at its Annual Conference and The Office Building Show held recently in San Francisco, California. BOMA's new officers will serve through June 2004. John P. Kelly, RPA, Executive Vice President of Ryan Companies US Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been named Chairman and Chief Elected Officer. A member of BOMA/Minneapolis and BOMA/St. Paul, Kelly has been a BOMA member since 1976, and has been actively involved at all levels of the association. Kelly has more than 20 years of experience with Ryan Companies, including design review, marketing, affirmative action, finance, leasing, operations, risk management, litigation, management and implementation of Quality Management initiatives. Steven W. Ford, Senior Managing Director of Cushman & Wakefield's Facilities Management Group, East Rutherford, New Jersey, has been named Chairman-Elect. A BOMA member since 1987, Ford served as vice president before moving up to his current post. He is also a member of the Executive Committee and National Advisory Council, as well as a Board of Directors member of the BOMA/New York association, where he previously served as president. Ford has been employed by Cushman & Wakefield for over 25 years, and is currently responsible for overseeing management of owner occupied properties totaling in excess of 80 million square feet in the U.S. Prior to his current position, he served as regional director for the eastern region. David W. Hewett, CCIM, CPM, RPA, CFM, FMA, of Beaverton, Oregon, Alliance Director for Trammell Crow Company Global Services, Auburn Hills, Michigan, has been named Vice-Chairman. A member of BOMA/Detroit and BOMA/Portland Metropolitan, Hewett has been a BOMA member since 1986. Hewett has been employed by Trammell Crow Company for seven years, and is currently responsible for an international portfolio for Comerica Bank, consisting of 5,500,000 square feet of office space, a staff of 70 employees and an annual budget of $100,000,000. Prior to joining Trammell Crow, Hewett was a senior vice president and designated broker for Scherzer Real Estate Group, Inc., Portland, Oregon. Richard D. Purtell, RPA, Assistant Vice President with Lowe Enterprises Real Estate Grouop in Cincinnati, Ohio, was reelected as Secretary/Treasurer, a post to which he was elected in 2002. A BOMA member since 1982, he served as president of BOMA/Greater Cincinnati; president of BOMA/Ohio; and president of BOMA International's North Central Region. Purtell has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry.
