Builder D.R. Horton Posts Loss, Sees Challenges

Fort Worth, TX, Nov. 20, 2009--Home builder D.R. Horton reported a $231.9 million loss for the quarter, or $0.73 per share, compared with a loss of $799.9 million, or $2.53 per share, a year earlier.

Revenue fell 42 percent to $1.01 billion.

D.R. Horton says sales orders during the quarter rose 26 percent from last year, but more foreclosures, high inventories and rising unemployment remain a challenge for the industry.
