Builder Beazer Homes Narrows Loss in Quarter

Atlanta, GA, May 2, 2014 -- Builder Beazer Homes reported it lost $17.9 million, or $0.31 per share, for the quarter ending March 31.

That's down from a loss of $19.6 million last year.

Revenue declined 6% to $270 million from $287.9 million.

New home orders dropped 8.6% to 1,390 homes from 1,521 homes. Completed home sales fell 13.3% to 977 homes from 1,127 homes a year ago.

"Despite inclement weather and a slower start to the spring selling season than anticipated, we made further progress on our operational and financial objectives during the quarter," said CEO Allan Merrill.
