British Mill Announces New Carpet Recycling Progra

Yorkshire, England, October 14--Carpet manufacturer Burmatex claims to have developed a new approach to the disposal and recycling of carpet waste "Ethos", according to LetsRecycle.com. Following the cutting out of carpet tiles there is left over material which is traditionally sent to landfill, Burmatex now shreds this material down into powder. This powder is added to the bitumen mix, which is used in the production of carpet tiles. The process allows Burmatex to recycle its own waste rather than sending it to landfill. Previously Burmatex had been using filler for the bitumen mix, through the recycling process they are able to save funds on this filler. Terry King, sales director at Burmatex believes that Ethos could be a key element in helping his company in the carpet disposal market. He said: "Ethos, we believe, will help us steal a lead on the competition in what will become an increasingly important market."
