British Ceramic Tile Opens New Manufacturing Plant

Newton Abbot, UK, Oct. 9, 2009--After two years of construction and a $48 million investment, British Ceramic Tile opened a new manufacturing plant.

The site now has the capacity to produce seven million square meters of tiles a year, which the company plans to extend to 10 million by the end of 2010, helping to meet its target of a 25% share of the UK tile market.

British Ceramic Tile executive chairman Konrad Goess-Saurau said: "Factories like this, which can compete in world markets and can link British design to British products, will secure British jobs for the future. Companies like ours are founded by shareholders who are prepared to invest long term."
