Brintons Says Hospitality Customers Getting Green
Las Vegas, NV, Aug.14, 2008--Brintons, a leading producer of custom woven Axminster carpet, is championing efforts to expand eco-friendly practices in the commercial design community, according to Brintons’ CEO in the U.S., Jonathan Young.
“In addition to accelerated measures internally, we are actively engaged in helping our customers reach LEED certification,” Young said.
“While many carpets made today meet CRI’s Green Label Plus standards, Brintons carpet offers an additional advantage for LEED certification – our woven carpets are made primarily of natural materials such as wool that qualify as a rapidly renewable material.”
“We are very pleased with the initiatives being taken by our customers and applaud their commitment,” Young said, citing Marriott’s announced intention to expand the number of LEED-certified hotels among its brands, as well as for its corporate facilities, by the end of 2009.
Earlier this spring, The Palazzo in Las Vegas was awarded a silver certificate and became the world’s largest LEED-certified building. According to the U.S. Green Building Council, the $1.9 billion, 50-story Palazzo is actually over four times bigger than the second-largest LEED-certified building.
In addition to thousands of yards of Brintons carpet in public spaces throughout the Las Vegas Sands Corp. property, it also utilizes a broad range of environmentally-efficient technologies, including solar energy and recycled materials.
