Brintons Breaks Ground on Chinese Plant

Suzhou, China, Oct. 30, 2008--Brintons, the largest producer of custom woven Axminster carpet, recently held a ground breaking ceremony at its new plant site in Suzhou, China. 

Brintons Carpet Manufacturing (Suzhou) Limited represents a $23 million investment in carpet production. The facility will contain approximately 178,000 square feet of manufacturing space and employ 350 workers on four shifts.

The vertically-integrated production processes at the new factory will include dyeing, yarn preparation, weaving and finishing. When completed, the factory is expected to produce approximately 1.2 million square yards annually in woven Axminster carpet for all types of commercial installations. The majority of production will be exported to the U.S., Australia and the Pacific region.

“We are extremely pleased to be moving forward with this expansion of our manufacturing capabilities,” said John Tuck, Brintons’ manufacturing strategy director. “The Suzhou Industrial Park provides us with an excellent environment in which to manufacture the finest quality carpets in the world.” 

Tuck said the factory will be a LEED-Certified building.
