BPS Gets Climate Registered Platinum Status

City of Industry, CA, June 21, 2011 -- Commercial carpet specialist Bentley Prince Street said it has achieved Climate Registered Platinum status for reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 20% since it began reporting to the Climate Registry as a Founding Reporter in 2008.

The company said that along with other leaders in sustainability across North America, Bentley Prince Street has adopted an environmentally responsible and transparent approach to doing business.

A requirement of achieving Climate Registered Platinum, Gold, or Silver status is publishing a carbon management plan, a greenhouse gas reduction goal, and a timeline for achieving it.

To be awarded Climate Registered status, members must submit a minimum of five practices that demonstrate they are actively taking steps to reduce their emissions.  These practices are integrated into a searchable database, which members can use as a resource to determine what they can do to reduce their GHG emissions and energy use.

“Eastman Kodak, the U.S. Postal Service and Bentley Prince Street are the first of our Members to achieve reductions through our new leadership program,” said Denise Sheehan, executive director of The Climate Registry.
