BPS Becomes Founding Reporter for Climate Group

City of Industry, CA, January 22, 2008– Bentley Prince Street, California’s largest commercial carpet manufacturer, has become a founding reporter of The Climate Registry by being one of the first to join and support the non-profit organization.

The Climate Registry was established to measure and publicly report greenhouse gas emissions.

Bentley Prince Street will report its greenhouse gas emissions on an annual basis using The Climate Registry general reporting protocol. The protocol is based on internationally recognized measurement standards of the World Resources Institute and World Business Council on Sustainability.

“Bentley Prince Street has demonstrated exemplary environmental leadership by courageously stepping forward to support The Climate Registry in its preliminary stages." said Gina McCarthy, chair of The Climate Registry.

Bentley Prince Street was the first charter member of the California Climate Action Registry (CCAR), joining in 2002. The company was named the first Climate Action Leader of 2004 and was also the first CCAR member to certify its emissions inventory with a third party and publicly report its emissions. Bentley Prince Street was also honored as a Climate Action Champion by the CCAR in 2006 in recognition of its leadership in addressing climate change and making significant commitments to reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

“Partnering with The Climate Registry to track and reduce GHG emissions supports our Mission Zero goal of eliminating our potential impact on the environment by the year 2020," said Anthony Minite, president of Bentley Prince Street.

Since 1994, Bentley Prince Street said it has achieved other environmental milestones:

Made 100% of its electrical energy requirements renewable.

Reduced waste sent to landfill by 95 percent.

Reduced net absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 75 percent.

Reduced water intake by 71 percent.

Reduced overall energy use by 57 percent.

Reduced NOx by 36 percent .
