Boomers Less Likely To Move in Retirement

Washington, DC, Oct. 26, 2011 -- Baby boomers are more inclined to stay in their current homes rather than move for retirement, according to a new poll by the Associated Press.

AP said that its poll showed Boomers would prefer a home that is affordable, accessible to medical care and close to family. But the economy may make that an impossible dream for many.

According to the poll, the 77 million Boomers are increasingly worried about retirement and their finances resulting from economic crisis of the past three years, and only 9% believe they'll have a comfortable retirement.

Among older baby boomers, 48% say it's extremely or very likely they'll stay in the home they live in now throughout their retirement, compared with 35% among younger boomers.
