Bentley Prince Street Wins Evergreen Award

Los Angeles, CA, March 10, 2009 – The U.S. General Services Administration has chosen California carpet manufacturer Bentley Prince Street as a recipient of its 2008 Evergreen Award.

Presented at the GSA Quality Partnership Council meeting on March 3, the award recognizes efforts in recycling, affirmative procurement and waste reduction in the Furniture, Furnishings and Technology/Electronics categories.

GSA’s Evergreen Award program was developed in 1998 to support the Federal Government’s environmental initiatives and assist GSA’s customers in identifying environmentally preferable products.

Bentley Prince Street was chosen based on a set of criteria that evaluated:
   *Waste prevention, recognizing reductions in the generation of waste and/or the amount of toxicity in waste materials before recycling, treatment, or disposal.
    *Recycling, recognizing activities, including outreach, collection, separation, and processing by which products or other materials are recovered from the waste stream for use in new products.
    *Affirmative procurement, recognizing the most effective and innovative programs implemented for the purchase/use of recovered materials.
    *Environmental preferability, recognizing the best examples of acquiring, using or validating products/services that have a reduced impact on human health and the environment.
    *Model facility, recognizing outstanding contribution to waste prevention, recycling and affirmative procurement through leadership, investment in resources and change in culture.
