Bentley Prince Street Gets Environmental Award
Los Angeles, CA, May 9, 2006--Bentley Prince Street was recently honored as a Climate Action Champion by the California Climate Action Registry (CCAR).
In receiving the 2006 Climate Action Champion Award, Bentley Prince Street was recognized for its leadership in addressing climate change and making significant commitments to reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The award was presented during the organization’s annual conference on April 20th.
“As California’s largest commercial carpet manufacturer, we believe it’s our responsibility to develop new innovations that help preserve our environment. At the same time, we’re taking an active role in educating and catalyzing our fellow businesses in the state and in our industry to join in the effort,” said Anthony Minite, president of Bentley Prince Street.
Bentley Prince Street joined the CCAR as the first charter member in 2002 and was named the first Climate Action Leader™ of 2004. The company was also the first CCAR member to certify its GHG emissions inventory with a third party and publicly report emissions through the Registry. Partnering with the Registry to track and reduce GHG emissions supports the company’s vision to become a sustainable company that will eventually become a restorative enterprise that leads other Californians forward on the path to sustainability.
"By setting a goal of making its entire product line climate neutral, Bentley Prince Street has been a leader in expanding what it means to be a sustainable business," said Diane Wittenberg, president of the California Registry. "More than that, they have been highly visible as leaders on climate change and friends of the Registry, and we are pleased to honor them with this award."
