Bentley Prince Street Expands Reclamation Program

Los Angeles, CA, October 24, 2005--Thanks to a partnership between Bentley Prince Street and Invista, it’s now easier than ever before to dispose of carpet in an environmentally responsible way and reduce the burden on our landfills. Working with Invista, Bentley Prince Street’s ReEntry program offers new reclamation options to meet the unique needs of any business as well as improved recycling processes. “Our ultimate goal is to divert all carpet products from our landfills,” said Anthony Minite, president of Bentley Prince Street. “With Invista as our partner, we’re now able to offer a new and improved ReEntry program with added flexibility and improved recycling processes, making it a win-win for our customers and the environment. We hope this new program will help drive the marketplace toward more environmentally conscious practices that also make great business sense.” The enhanced ReEntry program offers more economic and environmental benefits for businesses than ever before. By using the ReEntry program to dispose of any carpet product, companies can avoid costly landfill disposal fees and stringent government restrictions while also helping protect the environment. Through the partnership with Invista, companies now have three different options for reclaiming carpet based on their needs. The new ReEntry program also offers improved recycling options, with Invista reclaiming all broadloom carpet for use in the production of filtration devices, engineering resins, automotive parts, packaging materials and furniture. "Developing strategic partnerships with other industry leaders in sustainability like Bentley Prince Street aligns with our environmental strategy to minimize the total environmental impact of carpet," said Bobby Berrier, vice president, Commercial/Transportation Flooring for Invista. "We are excited to begin receiving the broadloom carpet collected through the ReEntry Carpet Reclamation Program and recycle it into other valuable material for use in new products with our unique technology at the Invista Reclamation Center." The program process has also been streamlined to make carpet reclamation easier and more effective, with one point of contact for reclaiming both broadloom and modular goods. In addition, the program offers the consulting services of ReEntry Reclamation experts and INVISTA Fiber Consultants at no charge. ReEntry is one of the industry’s most aggressive, responsible and successful carpet recycling programs. Since its creation in 1994, the ReEntry program has diverted more than 66 million pounds of material from landfills. Through the program's partnership with Invista, Bentley Prince Street will take back any broadloom or modular carpet product from any commercial manufacturer after its useful life and find the most environmentally responsible solution for reclamation, including repurposing into another setting, recycling into new products or using for energy capture and conversion to create steam or electricity. The program also takes into account the cost of energy and fuel needed to reclaim the carpet to ensure the most environmentally conscious solution.
