Bedspread Industry Pioneer Dies
Dalton, GA, July 14, 2008--John Hugh Hackney, 94, considered to be a pioneer in the chenille bedspread industry, died July 12 at his home in Dug Gap.
He moved to Dalton as a boy from Crawford, Texas and was a lifelong resident of the Dug Gap community. He worked simultaneously at Brooker Spread Co. and Fashion Craft Chenille.
