Bed Bath & Beyond Sales, Earnings Off

Union, NJ, Sept. 24, 2008--Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. reported net earnings of $.46 per share, or $119.3 million, in the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 30, compared with net earnings of $.55 per share, or$147.0 million, in the same quarter a year ago.

Net sales were approximately $1.85 billion, an increase of approximately 4.9 percent from net sales of approximately $1.76a year ago.

Comparable store sales fell by approximately 0.1 percent, compared with an increase of approximately 2.2 percent in last year’s fiscal second quarter.
