Beaulieu’s Recycling Efforts Score in UAE

Dubai, Enited Arab Emirates, March 1, 2007--OFIS (Office Furnishing Interior Solutions) part of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group has signed a distribution deal with the third largest carpet manufacturers in the world, Beaulieu of America, according to Arabian Business.

Many of the US-based company's ranges are manufactured using 85% recyclable materials; a fact that appealed to Ajai Kumar Dayal, general manager, retail and marketing, Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, who said: "I met the company at Domotex in Hannover and thought that its environmentally-friendly philosophy fits very well with OFIS."

He continued: "We are going to use the eco-friendly aspect of this company and its products to promote them in this market. This region is behind the rest of the world with its use of green products, but Dubai is an incredibly progressive place and it has the ability to catch up incredibly quickly with global movements, and so I have no doubt that companies in Dubai will be quickly turned into thinking about environmentally-friendly issues."

Christopher Champlin, international regional manager, Beaulieu of America said: "121 million tons of carpet goes into landfill sites in the USA, and Beaulieu are focusing on getting used carpet out of landfill sites and being re-used. Carpet backing is one area of carpet that can easily be made using recyclable materials. 16-18 small water bottles can make the backing for one carpet tile. We were also one of the first companies to make water filtration into the dyeing process standard, before it was a legal requirement."
