Beaulieu of America Wins Plant of the Year Award
Dalton, Georgia, April 5, 2007--Beaulieu of America was honored by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals by receiving the organization’s coveted Plant of the Year Award. The Royston, Georgia plant of Beaulieu Group, LLC, was awarded Plant of the Year for Pollution Prevention and Waste Minimization by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals at a ceremony held on March 15, 2007. The award distinguishes a Georgia business that exemplifies environmental stewardship in the areas of pollution prevention management systems, procurement of materials, processing of materials, conservation of natural resources and energy, reuse/recycle, and final product management. The Royston plant manufactures polyester carpet yarn from fiber derived from plastic soft drink bottles. Nancy Van Eman, Environmental & Safety Director for Beaulieu, noted that the company was up against some pretty stiff competition, with the plant’s Environmental Management Systems being scored against some of the largest companies within the state. According to Van Eman, “in the end, Beaulieu was nominated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Pollution Prevention Assistance Division.” She goes on to state “the Department was very impressed with our Royston Plant and the Environmental Management Systems we have in place and how well they perform. We were very pleased to be recognized for our corporate initiatives and for the great efforts our employees make every day to protect and improve the environment”
