Beaulieu Cuts Pay for All Employees

Dalton, GA, Aug. 25, 2011 -- Beaulieu of America has temporarily imposed a 10% pay cut for all of its 5,200 employees rather than lay off more workers, according to a story in the Dalton Daily Citizen.

“We felt like that was a better thing for us to do with everybody within the organization company wide versus us deciding to lay off another 400 to 500,” Jeff Meadows, Beaulieu’s chief marketing and sales officer, told the newspaper.

Meadows told the newspaper that demand for the company's products wouldn't warrant more plant closings, but weak demand combined with high raw material costs necessitated more most cutting.
