Beaulieu Canada Settles Strike, Plant To Reopen

Acton Vale, Quebec, Canada, Nov. 4, 2008 – After months of negotiations, Beaulieu Canada and its workers have reached an agreement to end the workers' strike and the Acton Vale plant will remain open.

The latest offer by Beaulieu was accepted by 67% of the employees on Friday, Oct. 31. The final collective agreement included wage concessions that the company deemed necessary in order to remain competitive amid challenging market conditions.

Beaulieu said the Acton Vale plant is expected to resume its operations over the next few days. The plant produces residential and commercial carpet and features a Chromojet printer, the only one of its kind in Canada.

Production had been largely transferred to the U.S. during the strike.
