Bayer Debuts New Stain Block

Pittsburgh, PA, Apr. 28--Bayer Chemicals has developed BayProtect SSB, a new patent pending stain repellent specifically formulated for commercial and residential carpets and rugs. BayProtect SSB has a stain blocking chemistry that repels liquid spills, such as coffee, tea, berry juice and wine, as well as the damaging effects of dry soil. It's the newest member of the company's BayProtect family of protective textile finishes. Dean Bender, director of marketing for Bayer Chemicals' textile processing chemicals business unit, said that customers today want floor coverings that are beautiful to look at and easy to maintain. With BayProtect SSB, spills form on the surface of the fibers rather than become imbedded in the fibers, minimizing soiling. A In addition to its repellency characteristics and dry soil resistance, BayProtect SSB also has UV protection and can be applied at low add on levels. Solutia's laboratory tested carpets treated with the new system and concluded it meets certification criteria for carpets bearing the Wear Dated brand name.
