BASF Opens Tile Adhesives Plant in China
Frankfurt, Germany, October 22, 2007—BASF has opened the first plant for tile adhesives products under the PCI brand in the southern Chinese city of Foshan, with an annual production capacity of more than 50,000 metric tons.
The company will employ 50 people at the plant, producing tile adhesives, leveling products, tile grouts and waterproofing materials, the company said in a statement.
PCI Augsburg GmbH was acquired by BASF in 2006.
"Setting up the PCI plant is part of BASF''s strategy to continually strengthen its commitment in China, which is currently the world's largest market for tiling products, with enormous business potential and opportunities yet untapped," said managing board member and head of Asia operations Martin Brudermόller.
