Mount Olive, NJ, December 13--BASF will raise prices for Ultramid and Capron nylon resins for plastics extrusion applications by $0.06 per pound.
This action will take effect on January 1, 2005, and will apply to customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
"Significant increases in natural gas and ammonia prices have eroded margins to unacceptable levels," said Mark Dobson, marketing and sales director for BASF's Polyamide and Intermediates business in North America. "The raw material and energy markets remain highly volatile and a great
deal of uncertainty still exists regarding future costs to produce nylon."
