Bank Sets Deadline on Feltex Rescue

Melbourne, Australia, September 7, 2006--The ANZ bank may call in administrators today to oversee transactions concerning New Zealand carpetmaker Feltex. The move comes despite a last-minute proposal being worked on overnight, according to the Melbourne Herald Sun. ANZ set a deadline of 8am Thursday for Feltex to secure an alternative proposal from New Zealand businessmen Graeme and Craig Turner to save the group after Geelong-based rival Godfrey Hirst withdrew its bid on Tuesday.
