Balta Buying Domo's Carpet Tile Business

Sint-Baafs-Vijve, Belgium, Aug. 18, 2010--Balta said it is buying the broadloom carpet and needle felt productions, carpet tile and yarn and fiber activities of Domo Floorcoverings.

The acquisition will expand Balta's product range, which already consisted of broadloom carpet, rugs and laminate flooring, with the addition of carpet tiles and needle felt. It also adds to the company's position in broadloom carpet.

"This is a splendid opportunity for us," said Balta CEO Jules Noten.

"Until today Balta had no activities related to carpet tiles and needle felt. This will open up a whole new world of products and distribution channels."

The Domo artificial grass business and Xentrys nylon carpet yarn business are not part of the deal.
