Average Earnings Edge Higher in May

Washington, DC, June 4, 2010--Average hourly earnings of U.S. employees in the private non-farm sector increased by $0.07, or 0.3%, to $22.57 in May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said.

Over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 1.9%.

In May, average hourly earnings of private-sector production and non-supervisory employees increased by $0.04, or 0.2%, to $18.99.
