Automotive Company Collins & Aikman Sells 2 Units

Detroit, MI, October 15, 2007--Privately held International Automotive Components said that it has acquired two auto parts businesses with 4,150 employees from Collins & Aikman Corp. Terms were not disclosed.

International Automotive, led by billionaire investor Wilbur Ross, said it completed acquisition of Collins & Aikman's former soft trim division and its former interior parts plant in Saltillo, Mexico.

The soft trim division has 16 plants in North America that make carpeting, floors and other interior components, as well as a technical center, the new owner said. The division employs 3,900 people, while the Mexican plant employs 250.

The two businesses have $600 million in annual sales, International Automotive said.

Collins & Aikman has been selling off units under bankruptcy protection. Tandus Group and its wholly owned subsidiary Collins and Aikman Floorcoverings, is not affiliated with the Collins & Aikman Corporation. Collins & Aikman Floorcoverings, was an operating unit of Collins & Aikman Corporation until 1997 when it was then split off in a sale transaction led by its executive management team and a private equity sponsor.
