Australian Carpet Maker Cuts Time, Saves Energy
Devenport, Australia, Aug. 4, 2008--Woven carpet manufacturer Tascot says it has improved the efficiency of heat transfer around two of its dye vats in a drive to improve their environmental impact.
The upgrade was helped by a grant $5,000 grant from the government’s Cleanbiz program. The manufacturer claims to have cut the heating time for the vats by 60%, saving natural gas usage and lessening greenhouse emissions.
The company said the upgrades are part of an ongoing modernization plan, which started in 1997 when the oil-fired boilers were converted to LPG, before the 2007 upgrade to natural gas.
