August Employment Rose by 315,000, Unemployment Up to 3.7%

Washington, DC, September 2, 2022--Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 315,000 in August, and the unemployment rate rose to 3.7%, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. 

Notable job gains occurred in professional and business services, healthcare, and retail trade.
