AstroTurf Acquired After Filing Bankruptcy

Dalton, GA, July 1, 2016—AstroTurf, the most recognizable name in artificial sports surfacing, filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week after losing a $30 million patent infringement suit to Tarkett, maker of rival product FieldTurf.

The bankruptcy is intended to allow AstroTurf, currently owned by Textile Management Associates in Dalton, GA, to dispute the judgment. It also will allow for acquisition of AstroTurf by SportGroup Holdings, a global sports surfacing company based in Munich, Germany.
