ASCR Awards Recognize Editorial Excellence

Millersville, MD, April 20--The Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR) recognized two of its members for their outstanding contributions to the Association’s monthly magazine, Cleaning & Restoration, at its recent convention in Palm Springs, Calif. “As the industry continues to grow and change, it becomes even more crucial to keep our readers abreast of those changes,” said the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Patricia Harman. “One of the major ways we’ve accomplished this is through articles written by ASCR members and other industry professionals.” Phillip Rosebrook, Jr., CR, of Business Mentors in Eugene, Ore., won the Association’s Golden Quill Award for his article, “It’s Obvious, Isn’t It?” which addressed the importance of clearly communicating a company’s goals, vision and direction to employees. Winners of the Golden Quill Award are selected from articles published in the magazine during the preceding year. Judging is based on the degree of usefulness of the information to readers, the composition and clarity, as well as the style or personality conveyed by the author. “Saving the Irreplaceable,” a two-part series on a library restoration project in Hyderabad, India, by Marshall Oliver, CR, of Belfor, received an Apex Grand Award from Communication Concepts, Inc. in Springfield, Va. The Apex Awards recognize editorial excellence in corporate and non-profit publications.
