ASCR Annual Meeting Slated for March

Millersville, MD, Jan. 22--The Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR) will convene its 59th Annual Meeting March 10-13, 2004 in Colorado Springs, CO. More than 750 business owners and managers, as well as technicians and exhibitors, are expected to attend Solutions--the Education Summit. The meeting will feature an array of educational seminars designed to raise the professional excellence of convention-goers in both how they manage their business and how they apply the latest technical advances in the cleaning and restoration sciences. More than 20 seminars will be held during the four-day event. “One of the most important reasons ASCR members attend the convention is to learn ways to distinguish themselves and their businesses from the competition,” said Tim Horrigan, ASCR president. “We think the return on their investment in attending the convention, based on the cutting edge information that will be shared in Colorado Springs, will be exceptional.” An impressive roster of speakers will conduct the seminars. They include Rusty Amarante, CR, of Belfor,; Bill Chapin of McCrone Research Associates; Pat Harmon of the Property Loss Research Bureau; Martin King, CR, of Martin Churchill Associates; Dr. Alan Luedtke of Invista Flooring Systems; Michael O’Reilly of Trade-Winds Environmental Restoration; Dr. Steven Spivak of Stantex Consultants; and Linda Udy of the Lothian Group. In addition to the seminars, on-site inspections of carpet cleaning facilities have also been scheduled for March 9. Included will be a two-hour tour of Castle Cleaning and Oriental Rug Company in Berthoud, Colorado, where the Auserehlian Cleaning System will be demonstrated. Participants will also visit a Denver-based restoration business, which specializes in Oriental rugs. A highlight of the 2004 ASCR convention will be an auction to benefit Ronald McDonald Houses on March 10. The list of donated auction items is impressive and includes vacations in world class resorts, fishing and hunting trips, and tickets to professional sporting events in a number of U.S. cities. The auction speaker will be Jimmy Murray, former general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles and a founder of the first Ronald McDonald House.
