Ascend to Close South Carolina Nylon 6,6 Polymer Plant

Greenwood, SC, October 25, 2024-Ascend Performance Materials is closing its plant in Greenwood County in early 2025, citing global economic issues, reports the Index Journal.

Ascend’s Greenwood plant manufactures nylon 6,6 polymer used for carpet, among other things. The company will exit fiber production and shift its polymer operations to its Cantonment plant in Pensacola, Florida.

The closure will affect about 200 employees.
