New York, NY, November 6, 2006--Artistic Tile, has launched "The Jerusalem Stone Project," in which the firm will donate 100 percent of wholesale profits from sales of its Jerusalem Stone products to the UJA-Israel Emergency Campaign.
This is the second time Artistic Tile has implemented its Jerusalem Stone Project. In 2002, the firm raised over $100,000 for the Emergency Campaign. The original project was conceived by Nancy Epstein, Founder and CEO of Artistic Tile, Inc. as well as Joshua Levinson, the firm's wholesale division President.
"We wanted to help, and to provide a way for others to help, in some small way, in a truly impossible situation," Epstein says.
"The metaphor of using Israel's own Jerusalem Stone as a foundation to improve conditions for families whose lives have been torn apart by the violence in Israel is appealing on two fronts," Epstein noted. "First, to support the program we have purchased larger quantities of Jerusalem Stone for our stock, which helps keep employment and commerce healthy in the stone industry in Israel. Second, donating the proceeds from sales of the material will raise money for the Emergency Campaign."
The nonprofit UJA-Israel Emergency Campaign, which takes no overhead out of donations for administrative costs, offers relief to families in Israel with aid for medical care, education and other basic needs.
Jerusalem Stone, the native limestone of the region, is an appropriate figurative building block for the project, as it is also often referenced as Holy Stone. Artistic Tile offers it in several naturally occurring colors, fabricated into various sizes and finishes.
The most popular choices are the smooth honed finish in Jerusalem Red (pale, cinnamon red), Jerusalem Gold (golden beige), Galilee Gold (a rustic finished beige) or Hlila (creamy beige). The red and gold colors are also offered in a tumbled finish, to approximate the look of ancient stone.
For walls with character, a dramatic split-face tile is offered in Jerusalem Gold, and a gently pillowed surface is offered in Hlila. Mosaics are offered in Jerusalem Gold. Slabs of the limestone, popular for countertops and tabletops are also offered.
