Arrmstrong CEO Named to Railroad Board

Lancaster, PA, Sept. 23, 2008--Armstrong World Industries Inc. CEO Michael D. Lockhart has been elected to the board of freight railroad operator Norfolk Southern Corp.

Lockhart joined Armstrong in 2000 after serving as chairman and CEO of General Signal Corp. He previously held executive jobs at General Electric Co.

Norfolk Southern operates about 21,000 miles of track in 22 states in the East and South.
