Armstrong's SR VP of Human Resources Angello L

Lancaster, PA September 22, 2005 -— According to the Lancaster New Era, the executive in charge of human relations at Armstrong World Industries has left the company. The newspaper reported that Armstrong employees were told that Matthew J. Angello, senior vice president of human resources, has left the company "to pursue other opportunities." It said that the financial terms of his exit were not disclosed, nor was a permanent replacement immediately named. Angello's departure comes as labor contracts with the United Steelworkers at five factories, including the Lancaster floor plant, are just 10 days from expiring. In a memo to employees announcing Angello's departure, Armstrong chief executive officer Michael D. Lockhart made note of his "significant contributions" to the company. Angello oversaw personnel for Perkins Family Restaurants before joining Armstrong in 1997 as vice president of human resources for worldwide floor products operations. He was promoted to senior vice president in charge of all Armstrong personnel in 2000. That advance made him one of Armstrong's five highest paid executives. He earned $815,000 in salary and bonus last year, according to Armstrong's financial filings. Angello is the second of Armstrong's top executives to leave in the past year. Chief financial officer Leonard A. Campanaro was succeeded by F. Nicholas Grasberger, effective January 1.
