Armstrong Workers' Petition Rejected by DOL

Washington, DC, July 23, 2010--The Department of Labor rejected a petition which would give some Armstrong World Industries workers extra help.

Workers with Armstrong's Hardwood Strip Flooring Mill out of Oneida, Tenn. filed a petition of March 3, 2010 which explained the production of hardwood strip flooring had shifted to a foreign country.

They were hoping to receive trade adjustment assistance to help them with this change. The assistance would cover health care costs and relocation expenses for workers who lost their jobs to overseas labor as well as other benefits.

Officers with the Trade Adjustment Assistance determined the workers did not meet the criteria needed to get the requirements.
