Armstrong Wins Platinum ADEX Award

Lancaster, PA, Apr. 5--Armstrong Flooring has received a 2003 Platinum ADEX Award (Award for Design Excellence) from Design Journal Magazine for Hartford Maple Antique, a plank floor from the Nature’s Gallery American Duet laminate floor collection. The annual ADEX Awards is the largest awards program for home, office, hospitality furnishings and building materials marketed to the design trade. An independent panel of judges representing a cross-section of the design industry including interiors, architecture, graphics, product and industrial design determines winners. ADEX entries are judged on five criteria: innovation, technological advancement, quality, aesthetics, and value. The 2003 ADEX Awards attracted more than 400 companies and approximately 1,500 innovative products entries. Armstrong was selected over several other laminate manufacturers and captured the premier spot with a prestigious Platinum Award in the "Residential Flooring" category. “The ADEX Platinum-level award is an honor and a validation of the design excellence of Armstrong laminate floors,” says Kevin Biedermann, vice president, laminate, Armstrong Floor Products. “In laminate, it’s all about making things look like the real thing. Realistic, natural visuals like wood and stone are in great demand and our laminate designs continue to offer superior visuals at all price points.” American Duet creates the look of old-world, traditional hardwoods and capitalizes on the new trend of multiple-width products, mixing 5” and 7” wide planks. "Everyone is pleased with this product, from consumers to retailers to installers,” says Biedermann. “It offers easy installation, a moisture-resistant core and beautiful visuals." Armstrong is the first manufacturer to offer multiple-widths, four-sided beveled edges and embossing in one product for finely tuned realism. American Duet laminates feature Armstrong’s enhanced ArmaLock Installation System with angle-angle joints. American Duet also is among the first products to combine Armstrong’s exclusive MasterWorks Technology, an exceptionally advanced printing technique that provides the most refined visuals possible with the company’s exceptional embossed-in-register technology. The collective technologies allow for the creation of well-executed designs that mirror the original source of design inspiration, while intensifying depth and realism.
