Armstrong wins 3 Adex Awards
Lancaster, PA, June 18, 2007-- Armstrong Residential Floor Products was awarded three Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX) – Platinum, Gold and Silver – for products spanning excellence in wood, resilient and laminate designs.
The 2007 ADEX Awards from Design Journal Magazine are:
Platinum – Bruce® Laminate Reserve™ Collection
Gold – Robbins® Fine Hardwood Flooring – Artesian Classics™ Color Wash Collection
Silver – MODe™ Luxury Vinyl Tile
ADEX is the largest and most prestigious awards program for product design of furnishings marketed through the design trade. Awards are judged on form and function. Design Journal, the international trade publication for interior designers, architects and facility managers, is the sponsor.
As a way of recognizing superior product design, Design Journal introduced the Awards for Design Excellence in 1994. Response from manufacturers was immediate as over 100 companies participated in the inaugural event. This year’s ADEX Awards attracted upwards of 1,500 companies submitting thousands of innovative new products.
"Winning an award as prestigious as a Platinum ADEX truly is a testament to the company’s dedication to bringing to market the most technologically advanced and visually exciting flooring products,” says Carlene Moloney, general manager, Marketing Communications.
An anonymous panel of professionals representing a cross section of the design industry conducts all voting for the ADEX Awards. ADEX judges are among the ablest in their respective areas of expertise and so the ADEX Award represents the best product designs of the year in the opinion of those who themselves reside at the top of their specialty.
Each category has potential for three award levels of Platinum, Gold or Silver, with Platinum being the highest any product can earn. Judges award points in several categories for each entry. Total points earned determine each product’s score. Minimum scores are needed to qualify for awards. Winners are published annually in Design Journal.
ADEX WINNERS:
1) Platinum – Bruce® Laminate Floors, Reserve™ Collection
The Bruce® Laminate floor collection cuts through the sea of standard oak and cherry visuals, to focus on non-traditional, unique exotic wood and luxury stone looks that consumers are now craving. “Bruce Laminate puts affordable luxury beneath consumers’ feet,” says Milton Goodwin, general manager, Bruce® Laminate Floors. Thanks to the vibrant colors and intense depth and realism of Hi-Definition Print Technology™, Bruce® laminate floors replicate the same appealing look of specialty hardwood and stones and tiles at a fraction of the cost of the original – and they’re easier to install and easier to maintain. The Reserve™ Collection features true plank widths, beveled edge detailing, and realistic wood textures and a 30-year limited warranty, Bruce’s longest. Some of the many long-lasting visual styles available include Hand-Sculpted Windsor Maple, Morado, Noguera Walnut and other appealing options.
2) Gold – Robbins® Fine Hardwood Flooring – Artesian Classics™ Color-Wash Collection
A striking new concept – Artesian Classics Color-Wash from the world-class portfolio of Robbins® Fine Hardwood Flooring – imparts the look of an antique floor with color-wash detail, adding an extra touch of unique elegance never seen before in hardwood flooring. Offered in four different species – Birch, Cherry, Maple and Walnut – the woods are first washed with a black stain, sanded, and then stained again with an alternate color and, finally, finished. The result is a blend of two colors that enhance the texture and character found within the natural wood. The engineered 1/2” x 5”-wide plank profile enables installation in any room, no matter the grade level or subfloor type. Micro-beveled edges and ends emphasize the linear visual and reveal definition of each plank. The floors feature the ForEver II™ Satin finish (urethane finish with aluminum oxide), a 25-year residential finish warranty, as well as lifetime structural integrity, adhesive bond and subfloor moisture protection warranties.
3) Silver – MODe™ Flooring
Armstrong’s MODe™ flooring, a high-end collection of Luxury Vinyl Tile, combines installation options, durability and exceptional design flexibility. MODe flooring – short for “My Own Design expressions” – offers considerable latitude for self expression with collections that spark inspiration. MODe offers a vast array of looks for any room of the home, from retro to ornate, from solids to whimsical, and from traditional stones to woods planks, parquets and cork designs. There are 88 looks, colors and styles. Varied sizes, including 16” x 16” and 12” x 12” tiles, as well as 4” and 6” wide planks, contribute to the collection’s design versatility. MODe’s easy down/easy up installation option also allows retailers to give their customers a choice of installation methods and allows homeowners to update their floors according to their changing tastes. The MODe line offers two installation methods … traditional adhesive or the new Armstrong easy down/easy up QuickTac™ system using a specially developed grid liner that installs the tile using either tabs or spray adhesive. QuickTac allows customers the freedom to make their floor as permanent as they want it to be. There doesn’t have to be a long-term commitment for those consumers who want flexibility, even in their flooring choices.
