Armstrong Teams Up With Local Organizations To Bui

Kankakee, IL, Sept. 15--A joint effort between the non-profit organization KaBOOM!, Armstrong World Industries' resilient floor tile plant and the Kankakee Valley Park District will bring an attractive new playground to Pioneer Park on Kankakee's north side, according to the Daily Journal. Armstrong is funding the playground as part of its commitment to the communities where its employees live and work. "We are excited about giving something to Kankakee that the children will really enjoy," said Darrell Williams, the resilient floor tile plant manager. "We are also excited about the challenge of building the playground in just one day." Armstrong employees will be among the volunteers, displaying the company's commitment to erase a deficit of playgrounds that can be found nationwide. Similar ventures have or will take place in Morristown, TN; Center, TX; St. Helens, OR; and Lancaster, PA. The KVPD has worked in conjunction with KaBOOM! on other projects, and welcomes a new partner in this latest venture. "We are very grateful for the interest that Armstrong World Industries has shown in the children of our community," said KVPD Executive Director David Mogle. "Pioneer Park serves hundreds of children who will benefit greatly by having a colorful, fun and safe playground close to home." Armstrong is a subsidiary of Armstrong Holdings, Inc., a global leader in the manufacture of floors, ceilings and cabinets. Since 1995, KaBoom! has worked to create healthy recreational opportunities for children. KaBOOM! has partnered with individuals, civic groups, businesses and foundations to raise $20 million and build and improve some 2,000 playgrounds.
