Armstrong Rehires Hardwood Plant Workers

Beverly, WVA, April 27, 2009--The Armstrong World Industries plant in Beverly has recalled the 95 workers it laid off last year as the housing market declined.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson says not all the employees elected to return, and the company is now hiring.

The company also agreed to a contract extension with the Teamsters union, which represents 670 workers at the plant.

In total, more than 700 people work at the plant.
