Armstrong Making Job Cuts in West Virginia

Beverly, W.VA, August 4, 2008--Armstrong World Industries plans to lay off up to 95 of its 800 employees at its Randolph County hardwood flooring plant.

A spokeswoman for the Lancaster, Pa.-based manufacturer blames declines in the U.S. residential construction market for the layoffs of as many 12 percent of its workforce. The layoffs include both salaried and hourly employees.

The mill and finish lines at the Beverly plant have operated on four-day weeks for several months, according to reports.
