Armstrong Gets Approval for Land Sale

Lancaster, July 27---A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge has approved Armstrong World Industries' agreement to sell surplus land to a Landisville company, according to the Lancaster New Era. Judge Judith K. Fitzgerald authorized Lancaster-based Armstrong to sell a 28.1-acre tract next to its Marietta ceilings plant to Lawn Equipment Parts Co. As the New Era reported in June, Lawn Equipment Parts intends to build a new headquarters there that would cost $6-to-$8 million. The $910,000 land purchase needed Fitzgerald's approval because Armstrong is in bankruptcy, to resolve a deluge of asbestos lawsuits.
