Armstrong Flooring Eliminating COO Position

Lancaster, PA, October 10, 2016—Armstrong Flooring is eliminating the job of chief operating officer, one of its seven highest management positions, according to Lancaster Online.

The firm said the job, held by David S. Schulz, will end effective October 15 because the position is no longer needed.

Armstrong Flooring disclosed the move in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Schulz, who is also a senior vice president, will receive a severance payment of about $1.26 million plus a prorated annual incentive bonus, to be determined, the filing indicates.

“The chief operating officer role had responsibility for providing transition guidance during our first year as a publicly traded company and would be re-evaluated at the end of that one year,” Armstrong Flooring spokeswoman Alison van Harskamp said. “We've been able to achieve certain transition milestones more quickly than anticipated and determined it was prudent to eliminate the position at this time,” she said.
