Armstrong Flooring Conducting Layoffs

Lancaster, PA, February 16, 2018-Armstrong Flooring will lay off 100 white-collar employees, according to Lancaster Online. The action was reported to the publication by company employees.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it would shift some of its residential market marketing duties to distributors. Armstrong responded to our inquiries with the following statement, “The transfer of some marketing, merchandising and sales responsibilities to distributors will result in the elimination of some positions, and we expect to provide further information in the context of our overall financial results during our regular quarterly report next month. Our focus has been on communicating directly with affected employees and helping them to transition to their next opportunities.”

These aren’t the first layoffs the company has conducted since its spin-off from Armstrong World Industries. The company merged its residential and commercial operations last spring, cutting 40 workers and closed two hardwood plants last fall, eliminating more than 300 employees.
