Armstrong Expands Multi-Use Commercial Resilient P

Lancaster, PA, December 13, 2005--Armstrong Commercial Floor Products announced design extensions for both its Timberline and Standard Excelon (Imperial Texture and MultiColor) commercial resilient flooring lines. The extensions bring “exotic wood visuals” to the popular Timberline group and wide-ranging color enhancements to Standard Excelon. Both products meet all current ASTM guidelines and feature a new urethane coating for increased durability. The floors also are certified by FloorScore, a new voluntary certification program to signal that select hardsurface flooring products meet stringent indoor air quality (IAQ) requirements for low-emitting building materials. Timberline has been revived and refreshed to better reflect the current and ascending health care design trends with new deeper and richer colors and wood visuals, as well as realistic wood tick and rustic embossing and lower gloss levels. Variable plank widths also have been included. Twenty designs, including four new looks, 12 new colors and two new emboss textures, comprise the completely refreshed collection. A range of visuals and varying plank widths include traditional, rustic and exotic wood species that effectively coordinate within the line, with other Armstrong flooring products and with other commercial interior finishes for greater design integration and flexibility. Timberline now offers four shades of Bamboo and three variations of Wenge (an African hardwood) to its existing vinyl sheet line, along with five additional options including Rustic Beech, Walnut and Cherry. It effectively merges the beauty of wood with the performance and maintenance benefits of vinyl sheet flooring The new urethane coating and new emboss pattern lowers the need for maintenance and reduces costs. The heat-wielded seams offer an aseptic surface with superior moisture and dirt resistance. Healthcare and education often use the best of technology to aid the organic processes of healing and learning. Timberline continues to combine the durability, easy-care, and aseptic properties of vinyl sheet with the cheerful warmth of organic exotic visual identities--now with deeper colors and richer wood visuals in varied plank widths. For more than 40 years, Standard Excelon Imperial Texture has led the industry in proven performance, exceptional quality and unmatched value to become Armstrong’s flagship vinyl composition tile product offering. The current launch of 16 more colors--for a total SKU count between Imperial Texture and MultiColor of 91--delivers a comprehensive, cohesive and color-integrated line. “Within the VCT category, Imperial Texture and MutliColor offer designers the most extensive color collection and virtually unlimited choice for color and design patterns,” says Dominic Rice, vice president, Resilient Flooring - Commercial. The collection of 91 colors, specifically created to meet the current and ascending design needs of the education, retail, mass mercantile and health care market segments have been assembled, including the addition of 16 new colors. Brown has been an emerging color in the market, and Armstrong captures this trend with “Café Latte,” and “Chocolate.” These warm, trendy browns coordinate well with wood; clear, bright colors like the new “Bubblegum” underscore Excelon’s reputation as “the designer’s choice for creative flooring within a budget.” All Standard Excelon VCT is made with 85% limestone, an abundant natural resource that further reduces environmental impact. Standard Excelon’s quality construction gives floors a truly monolithic appearance with dimensional stability.
