Armstrong Cutting People, Production in Lancaster
Lancaster, PA, March 26, 2008--Armstrong World Industries plans to eliminate about 100 office jobs in Lancaster, according to Lancaster Online.
Armstrong CFO Nicholas Grasberger recently told analysts that significant cuts would be made by the end of the quarter, which is the end of March.
Armstrong has its corporate headquarters, a flooring plant , and a ceiling plant in Lancaster, totaling about 2,000 employees.
A company spokesperson did not confirm the cuts.
Armstrong has also temporarily stopped making commercial sheet flooring at Lancaster plant due to slow sales, a union leader told the newspaper.
Don Rogers, secretary of United Steelworkers Local 285, which represents the production workers, told the newspaper it's the first shutdown that long to happen there during his nearly 35 years with Armstrong.
