With the 2004 introduction of the Ardex MCTM Moisture Control System, Ardex made great strides in moisture control, and has brought new products to the market since then that help keep flooring installations on schedule.
Determining whether moisture remediation is necessary, however, has been a problem. Some tests determine that moisture is present, but not how much, while the most common method measures only surface moisture levels without disclosing problems that lurk below throughout the entire thickness of the slab. The ones that do are costly and time consuming, with wait times as long as three days.
Enter Wagner Electronics’ Rapid RH™, an evolution in moisture-sensing technology, and the winner of the Attendees’ Choice Award for the Most Innovative Product at this year’s World of Concrete. Rapid RH™ is an all-in-one probe that combines a moisture sensor, power supply and display into a single, low-cost device that is inserted directly into the concrete floor slab. Each probe has a liquid crystal display to give you accurate relative humidity and temperature readings at the touch of a button. In addition, the Wagner Rapid RH probes are disposable and lie flush with the surface of the concrete, both avoiding damage and eliminating the need to remove them.
