Arab Design Firm Wins $18M Contract

Dubai, UAE, May 21--Leading UAE interior contractor DEPA Interiors today confirmed that it has won an $18 million turnkey interiors contract for the Four Seasons San Stefano Hotel in Alexandria, Egypt. The announcement was made by general manager Ali Malas at The Hotel Show, the Middle East’s leading hotel supplies event, where the company is among 199 exhibitors from 24 countries displaying a vast range of products and services for the hospitality industry at Airport Expo Dubai. The contract, which includes the full interior fit-out and supply and installation of furniture, lighting equipment, fittings, and bedding, adds to a long line of major already projects completed by the company for many of the world’s leading hotel operators. DEPA, an affiliate of Arab Technical Construction Co (Arabtec), has been specialising in full scope fit-out and furnishing of luxury hotels and facilities for the past 33 years, and is currently executing major packages in the interior fit-out of the Conference Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The company has been a regular exhibitor at The Hotel Show, which is organised by event management and marketing specialists, Streamline Marketing, and is being held under the patronage of H.H.General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Minister of Defence, and chairman of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Dubai’s MKM Group, making its Middle East exhibition debut, hopes The Hotel Show will reinforce business links with the regional hospitality industry for four of its companies, which are housed in a striking 84 square metre pavilion showcasing a range of products from swimming pools to spas. “Our aim is to demonstrate our expertise in spa development, consultancy, concept and design, operations management, recruitment, training and product distribution,” said Daniella Russell, Director, Spa Resources International. The company is part of MKM’s Wafi Health & Leisure division, which markets Dubai’s luxury Cleopatra’s Spa brand. With visitors to The Hotel Show including hotel owners, developers and leading operators from across the region, the company is aiming to add to a portfolio of hospitality industry clients which already includes Le Meridien, Kempinski Hotels & Resorts, Jumeirah International and Jebel Ali International Hotels. Another UAE company, Al Habtoor Interiors (AHI), is using the exhibition to showcase interior fit out skills for the hotel industry which have been boosted by millions of dollars worth of investment in the latest paint spraying and computer-controlled cutting technology. Aqili Flooring, a division of UAE-based Al Aqili Group, is this week launching a new range of curtains, having recently become the local distributor for four leading Turkish manufacturers, Window International, Trimland, Vanelli and Dina.
