Apartment Vacany Rate Flat in Fourth Quarter

New York, NY, Jan. 6, 2015 -- The U.S. apartment vacancy rate was flat in the fourth quarter, although rent prices continued to increase, according to real estate research firm Reis Inc.

However, Reis said new construction should push vacancy rates higher this year, although it expects rents to increase at a slower pace.

The vacancy rate was 4.2% during the fourth quarter, unchanged from the third quarter.

Rents rose 0.6% during the fourth quarter, compared to 1.2% in the third quarter.
